Bio:
As a young boy, I had a mild fluency disorder that I used to work extremely hard to cover up. I remember times where I would recite questions in my head before publicly asking my teacher, to avoid a potential stutter. I was pretty successful at finding solutions to mask my stutter, and over time the disfluencies seemed to fade away. Years passed where I didn’t even remember I stuttered, until I got into high school. There were moments where my stutter would make an appearance; therefore I had to get creative once again. Although the disfluencies were not often, a moment that ultimately led me to become a Speech-Language Pathologist came during my senior year of high school, during a group presentation. After the presentation, I left school early and walked home upset. It was during my walk home where I figured out what my calling was. I realized that I wanted to help individuals who have trouble communicating. A lot of times, people who have trouble communicating feel helpless. As an individual who has personally felt such negative emotions, I knew that I wanted to empower those individuals so that they could overcome the challenges they may face. Since then, I can proudly say that I was able to transcend an emotional time in my life to inspire others who are going through their own battles.
